“Ideal for cyclists”

"We found the Gembro while on a cycling tour of the beautiful Valtellina, which has it all, lakes, mountains, and virtually at the end of the trail the lovely city of Sondrio. The Gembro was clean, comfortable and best of all had several cycling stores within 2 minutes walk (one is right next door) so spares and repairs were easy to come by. Owner Roberto even let us store our bikes. The food alone was worth the stay, but add to that English-speaking hosts, warm friendly service and value for money...."

"Made us feel like family"

"Lisa and Roberto make you feel like family when you walk through the door. The Gembro is a quaint little hotel, providing basic but very clean rooms and a fantastic array of local food and wine. Roberto rules the kitchen and the dishes feature the best local produce. A great experience."

"A most friendly hotel taking particular care to look after australians in a nation where we couldn't speak their language. Couldn't ask for better food or wine in the restaurant and the rooms were clean would not hesitate to stay again."

"Più che dell'hotel, qui si parla del ristorante. E di una cucina tutta da provare, se si è a Sondrio. Perché in tavola, a mezzogiorno e sera, ci va la Valtellina più autentica, quella che porta i nomi dei piatti della tradizione, ovvero sciatt, pizzoccheri, bresaola e selvaggina. Tutte soluzioni ottime quelle che offre questo ristorante spartano (ricorda molto un'osteria) che, nel tempe, grazie alla sapiente mano di Roberto Calneggia ha saputo coniugare le materie prime locali con quelle di pesce, che si può sempre assaggiare in grande stile, perché fresco e ottimamente cucinato. E il prezzo? Anche questo una sorpresa, in positivo."

 More than an hotel, it’s the restaurant you should try if you are in Sondrio. Because the food, lunchtime and dinner is very authentic of the Valtellina cusine, disshes such as sciatt, pizzoccheri, dried beef and game. All the optimal solutions to this restaurant offers spartan (very reminiscent of an inn), which, over time, thanks to the skillful hands of Roberto Calneggia has combined the local raw materials with those of fish, you can always taste in style, because fresh and well cooked. And the price? This, too, a surprise, for the better. "
